Harriet “Hattie” Emily Smith Smith

1856-1938

Hattie Smith (1856-1938) was sister to Lizzie and the two shared a dedication to furthering the progress of women. She was a Columbian Club officer in the Kaysville organization. This group supported the goals of the suffragists by creating components of the Davis County Columbian Club exhibit that would be placed in the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. There the skills and abilities of Kaysville women would combine to present a positive view of the populous in the territory. This public relations effort was specifically to showcase Utah for statehood status.
